Sims 4 Careers
How to Get a Job In the Sims 4
The quickest option is to simply open your Sim’s phone, select the business icon, and choose ‘Find a Job’ from the menu.
Your Sim will be presented with a list of amazing job opportunities to apply for.
Another option for securing employment is to hop on the computer and select search for a job.
How to Get Promoted
Once your Sim is employed, the next step is to climb up the career ladder and get promoted. Here are some tips to help your sim achieve their career goals:
- Work hard: Encourage your sim to work hard every day by selecting the ‘Work Hard’ option when they are at work. This will increase their performance bar and bring them closer to a promotion.
- Take on extra tasks: Certain careers offer opportunities for your sims to take on extra tasks, which can also increase their performance bar and boost their chances of getting promoted.
- Improve skills: Some career paths require your sim to have a certain skill level in order to get promoted. Make sure you check the job requirements and work on improving the necessary skills.
How The Working Day Works
When your Sims are at work, you can manage their activities by clicking on the briefcase icon next to your Sim’s image at the bottom of the screen.
By default, Sims work normally, which moderately decreases their fun and may leave them in a bad mood after work.
However, you have several options to adjust their work behavior, including working hard, relaxing, or socializing, each with different outcomes. Socializing can improve your Sim’s social needs and potentially lead to new friendships or rivalries.
Choosing relaxation increases their enjoyment but at the expense of work performance.
Additionally, this menu allows you to send your Sims home early, useful if they need to care for children or you simply want them back sooner.
Depending on the career, you may also have additional menu options related to that career.
Career Branches
Some careers in the Sims 4 offer different branches for your sims to choose from as they progress.
These branches provide unique job titles, tasks, and rewards. For example, the Chef career offers two branches: Mixologist and Chef – both with their own set of tasks and opportunities.
Active Careers
If you have The Sims 4: Get to Work installed, there are three active careers for your Sims to pursue: detective, doctor, or scientist.
If you have the Get Famous pack, it comes with an acting career, which is also an active career.
In these professions, you’ll have various responsibilities to complete each day to receive a bronze, silver, or gold ranking for each day worked.
Achieving a gold ranking can earn you special rewards.
Although this is an active career, you do get the option every working day to follow your Sims to work or let them go on their own.
Taking Vacation Days
You will also receive three days off after you begin a new career. To utilize these days, go to your phone’s menu and choose “Vacation Day.”
You’ll be able to accumulate more vacation days by not missing shifts, coming to work on time, and getting promoted.
You may save these up and take a longer break later on, which is fantastic if you want to spend some quality time with your family or go on a vacation.
Working from Home
There are a variety of jobs in the game that allow you to work from home rather than going to work every day.
An hour before your shift is scheduled to begin, you’ll see a pop-up in the lower left corner of the screen asking if you want to go to work, work from home, or take paid time off.
If you choose to work from home, you will be presented with a handful of activities in the job list that you must finish before your next working day begins.
You’ll be paid a small amount of money each time you complete a task, and if your employer thinks you did an excellent job, they may give you bonuses.
Working from home is an excellent option for parents who need to look after their children all day, or if your Sims’ needs are low, you could utilize this time to make them happy again.
